Introducing Couples Therapy at The London Psychology Clinic

Introducing Couples Therapy at The London Psychology Clinic

Every relationship goes through difficult periods. Sometimes it is a specific event that brings things to a head. Sometimes it is a slower drift, where communication breaks down and old arguments seem to repeat themselves without resolution. Whatever the reason, reaching out for support is not a sign of failure. It is often the first step towards understanding each other again.

We are pleased to share that couples therapy is now available at The London Psychology Clinic.

Why We Are Introducing This Service

Many of the people who come to us for individual therapy are also navigating challenges within their relationships. Until now, we have not offered a dedicated space for couples to work through these difficulties together. That has changed.

This new service allows partners to explore what is happening between them, with the guidance of a therapist trained specifically in relationship work.

A Structured, Evidence-Based Approach

Couples therapy at the clinic is delivered using the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, one of the most well-researched approaches to relationship counselling. It is built on decades of research into what makes relationships work, and what tends to break them down.

Rather than simply talking through problems, the Gottman Method offers practical tools for improving communication, managing conflict, and rebuilding trust and closeness. It gives couples a shared language for understanding their patterns, and concrete steps for change.

This structured approach can be particularly helpful for couples who feel stuck in the same arguments, who struggle to feel heard by one another, or who want to strengthen a relationship that is generally healthy but could use some support.

Who This Service Is For

Couples therapy can help with:

  • Ongoing communication difficulties
  • Frequent or unresolved conflict
  • Rebuilding trust after a breach
  • Feeling disconnected or distant from a partner
  • Navigating a major life change together
  • Wanting to strengthen the relationship before problems escalate

You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from couples therapy. Many couples find it most useful as a preventative step, addressing patterns before they become entrenched.

What to Expect

Sessions take place in a calm, confidential setting, either in person at our Paddington clinic or online. Your therapist will work with you both to understand your relationship history, identify unhelpful patterns, and build a plan tailored to your specific situation.

Taking the First Step

If you and your partner are considering couples therapy, reaching out is often the hardest part. Our team is here to answer any questions you have before you commit to a first session.
